Autumn Belle Vue Park

Newport's parks and gardens need little introduction for they are among the best in the country. Belle Vue park overlooking the Docks and the Bristol Channel has always been my personal favourite, probably because of it's close proximety to Pill. It has recently undergone a major refurbishment of the band stand area and the pavilion. The results are a fantastic rejuvination which gives a strong indication of how the park might have been sen in the late Victorian, early Edwardian period. I remember being taken to the park on my Grandfather's hand cart to tend his allotment. They were situated adjacent to he Belle Vue lane entrance and I believe were a legacy of the War Years. The park has never lost any of its charm and going there today was indeed a great pleasure.
