The Kensington Court Club
It was by the far the most far sighted club in Newport at that time. Real acts, people that were household names and wall to wall music. the period was the late 60s early 70s and if the swinging era had missed the rest of Newport, it had certainly found its mark in Kensington Place. Sadly being in a residential area problems with noise and other associated issues were always there. As with all new and inivotive projects, The "Ken" club was far ahead of its time as far as Newport was concerned, and is remembered here with affection. Some of those pictured here are unfortunely no longer with us, Mo Wight of "Wight sound" who's music emporium was to be found in Skinner Street for many years to name but one. Here we visit the Ken on the night when Top of The Pops stars Pan's People entertained us, and in the same period the Club took part in the Annual Newport Carnival.
