On my way to work this morning, Adolf was patrolling the lake as usual, steaming along "looking for a fight" and he wasn't interested in food at all, so the ducks (and some seagulls) had all the bread.
Because he couldn't find anything else to fight he started on the ducks, and started chasing some of the male mallards around and pecking at their tails, so naturally these scattered in all directions as fast as they could go.
As I was leaving the lake, I noticed two geese flying in to land on the water, so I stayed and watched. Adolf spotted them, and they spotted Adolf, so they flew up to the furthest end of the lake, (near the flyover) and landed there. Adolf immediately started steaming towards them with his wings held high and all his feathers puffed out, to make himself look as big as possible. (not that he needs to make himself look any bigger as he is already enormous.)
Unfortunately I could not stay to watch the fun, as work was calling, but no doubt the feathers were flying once Adolf had caught up with those geese.??
(all this time the female was sitting on the nest amongst the reeds, with just the top of her head showing. Not sure if she has laid any eggs yet, but she has not moved off the nest since the end of last week.)
Watch this space.
